Data Release 25
This is Data Release 25, released on August 25th, 2025.
To use the (automatically-updating) dynamic version, you can use ^25

See more information about our data versioning scheme at the reference page.
Simplified data versions
We have simplified how we talk about and accept data versions based on user feedback. The
25.25
version format still works and is equivalent to the new fixed version format 25
.New Data
- Ministry for the Environment (MfE) 2025: emission factors for New Zealand across key sectors including transport, energy, waste, accommodation and more.
- Umweltbundesamt (UBA) 2025: electricity grid mix data, covering upstream emissions, electricity generation and transmission and distribution (T&D) losses.
- European Environment Agency (EEA) 2023: updated electricity generation data for European Union regions.
- Plastics Europe: emission factors for multiple types of plastics in Europe.
- CONCITO and 2-0 LCA (Big Climate Database v1.2): food emission factors across Denmark, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.
- GLEC v3.1: fuel emission factors for well-to-tank, tank-to-wheel, and well-to-wheel life cycle assessment (LCA) stages.
- UNEP: AR6 Global Warming Potential (GWP) values for refrigerant blend gases, both covered and not covered by the Kyoto Protocol.
- DEFRA/BEIS 2025: AR5 Global Warming Potential (GWP) values for refrigerant blend gases, both covered and not covered by the Kyoto Protocol.
- Climatiq:
- Spend-based emission factors for UK - adjusting UK Government emission factors for inflation and translating into purchasers' prices by applying trade and tax margins.
- Material use - average emission factors for materials based on the UK Government emission factors under different production sources - primary, closed-loop and re-used.
- Average commute - emissions from commuting for different UK regions. Uses UK Government emissions factors and travel data from UK Government and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency.
Data Changed
- Ministry for the Environment (MfE): fixed minor formatting issues in activity names and activity IDs to ensure consistent naming across datasets.
- CO2 Emissiefactoren 2024: corrected CO2e emission factor values for a small number of activities due to a data processing error. This update ensures all values are consistent with their original source data.
Affected activities:
- Flight – average – RF effect unknown
- Heavy fuel oil
- Long-haul flight >2500 km – RF effect unknown
- LPG car (large > 1400 kg / engine capacity > 2 l)
- Propane
- Refrigerants and Fugitive Gases: standardized activity names and IDs for consistency across datasets (IPCC, BEIS/DEFRA, EPA, and others). Updated the year of applicability for refrigerant gases to align with the Assessment Report (AR) method: AR4 → 2007, AR5 → 2014, AR6 → 2021. The applicable region is now set to Global.
- EPA: refined activity IDs for certain fuel emission factors to distinguish between stationary and mobile fuel use.
