Data Release 24

This is Data Release 24, released on July 28th, 2025. To use the (automatically-updating) dynamic version, you can use ^24. To use the fixed (unchanging) version, you can use 24. See more information about our data versioning scheme at the reference page.

New Data

• DEFRA/BEIS 2025: activity-based emission factors covering multiple sectors in the UK, along with global data for the accommodation and transport sectors.
• DEFRA/BEIS 2018-2020: historical emission factors across UK sectors, with additional global coverage for accommodation, energy, and transport.
• ΑΙΒ 2024: provides electricity data for European countries, including production mix, residual mix, and total supplier mix.
• WRAP v2.0: includes emission factors for food and beverage products across multiple LCA activities, sourced from various verified datasets.
• UBA Austria 2025: includes emission factors for energy use in Austria.
• MfE: emission factors for taxi travel based on dollars spent are now available.
• IEA: emission factors for EU-GB (European Union with UK) are now available.
• ADEME: emission factors for FR-20R (Corsica) are now available.

Data Changed

• MfE: corrected CO2e values in the dataset "Measuring Emissions: A Guide for Organisations" (years 2020, 2023, 2024). Due to a rounding error, the original dataset included incorrect CO2e values. We have recalculated them using the correct global warming potential (GWP) values: CO2 = 1, CH4 = 28, N2O = 265.
• Electricity Info: corrected the year the data is applicable, to be the same as the publication year of the dataset.
• WRAP v1.2 corrected the LCA activity to primary_production-transport-manufacturing and changed the categorization of all emission factors under the category Food Production for consistency.
• NVE: corrected the activity ID to electricity-supply_grid-source_supplier_mix and LCA activity to electricity_generation to better reflect the applicability of the emission factors. Also we updated the source link as the previous one was outdated.
• CBAM: corrected the names and activity IDs of fuel combustion emission factors to indicate that values are based on Net Calorific Value (Net CV) - this information is now included in both names and activity IDs.
• AIB: removed the notable_methodological_variance (m) quality flag - the data is still flagged as partial (p) as the dataset includes only CO2 emission factor values.
• ADEME: corrected the LCA activity for waste-related emission factors to end_of_life.
• ADEME, MfE, UBA: updated the activity IDs for transport emission factors to better reflect the corresponding vehicle and engine types.
• BEIS: corrected the fuel use in the activity IDs for the Marine fuel oil emission factor to ensure consistency with the source data.
• BEIS: improved the descriptions of electric vehicle emission factors to more accurately reflect vehicle types and usage contexts.
• BEIS: standardized name formatting for emission factors, including consistent use of singular/plural terms, process detail formatting, and capitalization.
• BEIS: corrected the activity_id structure by moving weight-related information from the type field to the appropriate weight component.
• EMA: updated the source link to the latest available version, as the previous one was outdated.
• EXIOBASE v3.8.2: fixed minor formatting issues in activity names to ensure consistent naming across the dataset.

Data Removed

• Greenview: removed three duplicate emission factors for hotel stay activities in Hong Kong - the correct emission factors remain available under the region code HK.
