Data Release 36

Simplified data versions
We have simplified how we talk about and accept data versions based on user feedback. The 36.36 version format still works and is equivalent to the new fixed version format 36.

New Data

  • DEFRA/BEIS 2026: Activity-based emission factors covering multiple sectors in the UK, including energy, transport, waste, and more. The dataset also includes global emission factors for air travel and country-level emission factors for hotel stays. Biogenic emissions are now available under new indicators.
  • Cornerstone Sustainability Data Initiative: The 2026 GHG Emission Factors Hub includes emission factors for the transport, energy, and waste sectors in the US. This dataset was previously developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Cornerstone Sustainability will provide ongoing support and future updates.
  • AIB 2026: Electricity emission factors for European countries, including production mix, residual mix, and total supplier mix.
  • Agribalyse v3.2: Land management emission factors are now available. They are calculated as FLAG emissions minus land-use change (LUC) emissions.
  • UBA: Transmission and distribution (T&D) loss emission factors for district heating for 2023 and 2024 calculated by applying a 12.5% network loss to the use phase emission factors.

Data Changed

  • EPA (2025 GHG Emission Factors Hub):
    • Corrected the global warming potential (GWP) calculation method for waste emission factors to use AR4, in line with the source methodology.
    • Combined partial CO2 emission factors from Table 2 with partial CH4 and N2O emission factors from Table 5 to derive complete CO2e emission factors where applicable.
  • UBA: Recalculated upstream emission factors for district heating for 2023 and 2024 to include transmission and distribution (T&D) losses by applying a 12.5% network loss. The updated values are now reported under the combined upstream-transmission_and_distribution lifecycle stage.
  • MfE:
    • Updated source link for all years, following changes from the source.
    • Corrected the LCA boundary of petrol motorcycles, it should be fuel_combustion
  • PCAF: Corrected the activity unit for real estate emission factors from m2 to m2-year, reflecting that the factors represent emissions associated with one square meter of floor area over one year.
  • EXIOBASE v3.8: Corrected the scope value for a small number of activities in the mined materials category to 3.1|3.3.

Data Removed

  • AIB : Residual mix electricity emission factors for Austria (2015–2016) have been removed to prevent their accidental use as a fallback for later years when there is no residual mix.
