Titanium - triple-melt (titanium production)

It is a chemical element and a transition metal with a silver colour known for its high strength-to-weight ratio. It is melted three times to achieve higher purity. It is mainly produced via the Kroll process, where titanium dioxide is transformed to titanium tetrachloride through the addition of petroleum coke and chlorine (chlorination and purification process) and then reduced to pure titanium metal by adding magnesium (vacuum distillation process).
