Titanium (production)

The activity generating the emissions is titanium production. The reference product is titanium. Titanium is a metal. It is a chemical element and a transition metal with a silver colour known for its high strength-to-weight ratio. It is mainly produced via the Kroll process, where titanium dioxide is transformed to titanium tetrachloride through the addition of petroleum coke and chlorine (chlorination and purification process) and then reduced to pure titanium metal by adding magnesium (vacuum distillation process).
