Emission factor summary

Emission factor for district heat supplied from residual heat without co-firing. The original combined emission factor reflects emissions associated with making the residual heat available and transporting it to end users through the heat network. The original emission factor is sourced from the Dutch CO2 Emissiefactoren database and reproduced in the Belgian dataset. According to the original source, the emission factor is reported at the end user and accounts for distribution losses. The underlying CE Delft methodology reports an average distribution loss of 25%, based on losses reported by heat companies. To derive the use-phase-only emission factor, the portion attributable to these transmission and distribution losses was removed; the use-phase value was therefore calculated as 75% of the combined use-phase and transmission-and-distribution emission factor. Retrieved from the CSV file "Warmte NL" from CO2 Emissiefactoren 2025.02, which provides a standard list of CO2 emission factors.
