Emissions generated by the activity within the product supply chain as described in ecoinvent v3.8. In 2002 the non-ionic surfactants represented 40% of global demand of surfactants. Of the non-ionic surfactants, the main groups are: 40% Ethoxylated Linear Alcohols, 20% Fatty Acid Esters, 15% Ethoxylated Alkyl Phenols, 10% Amine and Amide Derivatives. These products are used as cleaning and wetting agents, for emulsification and foaming. Certain surfactants are not harmful and can therefore be used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food industry (Salager 2002). This dataset represents the production of non-ionic surfactants using ethylene oxide. Reference(s): Gendorf (2016) Umwelterklärung 2015, Werk Gendorf Industriepark, www.gendorf.de Salager, J. 2002.
