It is a solid with a floral odor, without taste and color. It is used in a wide range of application such as the making of surfactants, lubricating oils, pharmaceuticals, monolithic polymers. The food industry uses dodecanol as flavoring agent. The cosmetic industry uses it as an emollient and as an intermediate in the production of dodecanal, which is a fragrance (OECD, 2006).
