Emission factor summary

Process description: The reaction of polyether polyol, methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and butanediol produces the main product thermoplastic polyurethane (polyether-based). For this purpose, the process consumes 1,4-butanediol, polyether polyol, and methylene diphenyl diisocyanate. Utilities consumed comprise cooling water, steam, electricity, inert gas, and process water. Dataset type is technology-specific (extension layer). Allocation type is no allocation needed in this unit process. In case of energy co-production, allocation via avoided burden is applied for the co-produced energy. CAS RN is polymer. All datasets are based on the attributional LCA approach and the methodology defined in the cm.chemicals methodology document.
