Emission Factor

Sulfate pulp - unbleached (sulfate pulp production - from softwood - unbleached)

Emission factor summary

Emissions generated by the activity within the product supply chain as described in ecoinvent v3.8. The product 'sulfate pulp, bleached', also called unbleached kraft pulp, is a type of unbleached, chemical, wood-containing pulp. It represents sulfate pulp obtained from softwood. Softwood pulp is made from coniferous trees, most typically from different species of pine and spruce. Sulfate pulp fibres from softwood fibers are long and slender and are used to give the paper and board products their strength properties. The pulp, or fibres from the wood are separated in a kraft cooking process in a so-called fibre line. In a recovery line, the chemicals used in the cooking process are recovered to be used again and energy is produced. The third process is effluent treatment where gaseous and liquid discharges to the environment are continuously minimized and monitored.Unbleached sulfate pulp is commonly used in liner for corrugated board, wrappings, sack and bag papers, envelopes and other unbleached specialty papers. The cut-off classification is allocatable product. The activity type is ordinary transforming activity. The reference product amount is 1.
