Palm kernel meal (palm oil mill operation)

The product palm kernel meal is produced by means of wet milling in a oil mill producing palm oil, palm kernel oil and palm kernel meal. Palm kernel meal is used as a source of protein (feed for animals). The palm fruit has a single seed, the palm kernel, protected by a wooden endocarp or shell and surrounded by a fleshy mesocarp or pulp. This fruit produces two types of oil: one extracted from the pulp (palm oil) and the other from the kernel (palm kernel oil). The reference product amount is 1.
