Emission factor summary

Emissions generated by the activity within the product supply chain as described in ecoinvent v3.8. Polyurethane adhesive (PUR adhesive or PUR glue) is a formaldehyde-free adhesive which is used in engineered wood products such as crosslaminated timber (CLT). Formaldehydes in indoor applications are often associated with concerns of their emissions to ambient air and effects on human health. In PUR adhesive isocyanate is used instead of formaldehyde. The hardening of PUR is induced by the moisture in the wood. The hardened glue is resistant to moisture and hydrolysis. Reference(s): Messmer, Annika & Chaudhary, Abhishek. (2015). Life cycle assessment of adhesives used in wood constructions. Masterthesis, ETH Zürich. The cut-off classification is allocatable product. The activity type is ordinary transforming activity. The reference product amount is 1.
