Data Version 8.8

This is the data version 8.8. The highest major version is 8, and the highest minor version is 8. To use the major version, you can use ^8. To use it as a minor version, you can use x.8 e.g. 0.8 or 1.8 This data version was released January 15th, 2024

Data Added

This is a big release with over 900 additions and 1200 corrections to existing factors. This data has been focused on materials, building services and electricity. Some of the highlights:

• We added emission factors from the Oekobaudat database around materials and equipment used for construction and building services. The data cover product stages including the extraction and processing of raw materials, their transportation to the manufacturer, and the actual manufacturing of the product.
• We added the IEA electricity well-to-tank data to as publicly available data. Note that the IEA factors for electricity generation still require a paid license.
• We added the latest US electricity supplier data from EEI, both supplier and residual mixes.
• We added the latest UK electricity supplier data from Electricity Info.
• We updated the electricity and fuel emission factors and added the latest ones, from UBA according to the latest released report.

Data Changed

This list only covers major changes that cover 20+ emission factors. Changes covering a smaller subset of emission factors, or changes such as name or description changes are not listed. Find a link at the end of this document to a structured table listing all changes.

• In the latest update of electricity factors from from EEA, they have updated a range of historical numbers. We have updated our numbers to match.
• We've updated the CO2 values of a good chunk of biogenic emission factors to the right amounts.
• We've fixed the year_released for both EEA and the dataset "Emissionsbilanz erneuerbarer Energietraeger" published by UBA to accurately reflect their respective publication years.

Data Removed

• Seeing as we're making the IEA well-to-tank factors publicly available, they have been removed from the premium dataset this release. If you're using the premium dataset and you increase your major version to 8, you might need to change any IDs you have lying around. Activity IDs and all other data for the factors have not changed.
