Emission factor summary

Process description: The ammoxidation of propylene produces the main product acetonitrile. For this purpose, the process consumes sulfuric acid, ammonia, and propylene. Utilities consumed comprise cooling water, thermal energy, steam, electricity, and process water. Dataset type is technology-specific (extension layer). Allocation type is allocation via mass. In case of energy co-production, allocation via avoided burden is applied for the co-produced energy. CAS RN is 75-05-8. All datasets are based on the attributional LCA approach and the methodology defined in the cm.chemicals methodology document. Data quality flag: Methodology - the EF contains a positive (rather than negative) value for biogenic CO2 removals as the production method avoids the burden of carbon capture in the supply chain.
