Cottonseed (fibre production - cotton - ginning)

The activity generating the emissions is fibre production, cotton, ginning. The Reference Product is cottonseed. The product cottonseed is a seed from an annual crop. Cottonseed refers only to the seed of the cotton plant, which has been grown via conventional farming practices. This seed is separated from the cotton lint (fibres) during ginning. Cottonseed can be further processed into cottonseed meal and oil, or prepared (cleaned) for sowing purposes. Not to be confused with seed-cotton which refers to the whole harvested boll of the cotton plant, i.e. cottonseed surrounded by lint. The Reference Product amount is 1. The cut-off classification is allocatable product. The activity type is ordinary transforming activity.
