Emission factor summary

Process description: The reaction of chlorine and carbon monoxide produces the main product phosgene. For this purpose, the process consumes caustic soda (50%), chlorine, activated carbon, and carbon monoxide (synthesis gas (2:1)). Utilities consumed comprise cooling water, thermal energy, and electricity. Dataset type is technology-specific (extension layer). Allocation type is no allocation needed in this unit process. In case of energy co-production, allocation via avoided burden is applied for the co-produced energy. CAS RN is 75-44-5. All datasets are based on the attributional LCA approach and the methodology defined in the cm.chemicals methodology document.
