Particleboard - cement bonded (particleboard production)

The activity generating the emissions is particleboard production, cement bonded. The Reference Product is particleboard, cement bonded. This product belongs to the group of wood-based materials with mineral binder that consist of 30-90% of a hardened inorganic binder and 10-70% of wood particles. Mineral-bonded boards are characterised by low thickness swelling through the action of water. All mineral-bonded wood-based construction materials are categorised as building materials of low flammability because of their high binder content. Cement based boards are highly resistant to mould and termites. For the production, wood particles, cement, additives, and water are mixed, moulded, and compressed. To shorten the hardening times, stacked boards are fed into a heated tunnel under pressure. The boards can generally be removed from their moulds after 6-8 h and then conditioned for 12-18 d in storage until the final strength is reached. Because of the high binder content, these materials are heavy and particularly suitable for use in building.
