Emission factor summary

The activity generating the emissions is market for irrigation. The Reference Product is irrigation. This item is delivering the service of "irrigation". The service can be supplied with a mix of three different technologies: a) irrigation, drip with 90% efficiency, b) irrigation, sprinkler with 75% efficiency and c) irrigation, surface with 45% efficiency. The efficiency of the system depends on a) the field application efficiency, meaning the amount of water that is made available to the plant compared to the total amount being introduced in the irrigation system and b) the conveyance efficiency representing the efficiency of water transport in canals and depends on the canal length, the soil type, etc. The process includes the water input (from surface and ground water sources), water pumping, energy use and infrastructure. Only the surface irrigation excludes infrastructure as in this case water flows by gravity. Water emissions of irrigation are not included; thus, they should be considered in the crop production dataset. Sources of water have regional variations, so users are prompted to check the individual regional activities. The Reference Product amount is 1. The cut-off classification is allocatable product. The activity type is market activity. Please refer to the ecoinvent documentation for full details: https://ecoquery.ecoinvent.org/3.12/cutoff/dataset/7826/documentation
