Emission factor summary

Process description: The C8-C10 fraction of fatty acids from coconut oil by hydrolysis produces the main product C8-C10 fatty acids (coconut oil). For this purpose, the process consumes sulfuric acid, caustic soda (50%), hydrochloric acid, and coconut oil. Utilities consumed comprise cooling water, steam, electricity, inert gas, process water, unspecific inorganic chemical, cement, and disposal of cement. Dataset type is technology-specific (extension layer). Allocation type is allocation via mass. In case of energy co-production, allocation via avoided burden is applied for the co-produced energy. CAS RN is unspecific. All datasets are based on the attributional LCA approach and the methodology defined in the cm.chemicals methodology document.
